About the project

Muffin is one of the first Russian mix makers working in the bastard pop style.
He makes both mash up mixes and remixes. He does not play at clubs but prefers thoughtful and careful sound studio work rather than club drive. The results of his works are represented in this site.

Muffin is known by the common public first of all due to his mash up projects. For creation of his mash up mixes Muffin normally uses the ready tracks from licensed compact disks.

In April 1999, Muffin created his first mash up track O. Gazmanov + Lube group + Rammstein "Colo-Cola".

In April 2000, Muffin made the first track of further legendary project Zemfira + Rammstein. This track is called "Hatred" and existing for a long time in two versions. The most aggressive of them was further renamed as "You" and included virtually unchanged in the final edition of this project.

His mash up project Zemfira + Rammstein won a wide popularity in the end of 2001, mostly due to the "pirate" release of compact disk "Zemfira + Rammstein. Studioworks". This disk represented nine tracks: five mixes and four draft versions referred to as independent mixes by the authors of this collection. Despite of its very low sound quality (makers of this disk surely used mp3 files with a low bit rate), this disk was successful, and soon this compilation was widely spread in Internet.

In February 2001, on the popularity wave of the first t.A.T.u. single "Ya Soshla S Uma" ("All The Things She Said" russian version), Muffin made the mash up mix t.A.T.u. + Limp Bizkit "I lost One's Thing". This mix was further copied from www.muffin.ru over 17 thousand times for the first working year of this site.

On April 01, 2002, News On Line 88.7 FM Moscow radio station played five tracks of project Zemfira + Rammstein: "Traffic of the Sun", "D.M.M.L.", "Good-Bye", "You", "NOchamy".

In October 2002, Muffin made the first track of mash up project t.A.T.u. + Rammstein - "Ist das gut!"

In April 2003, Muffin met t.A.T.u. producer Ivan Shapovalov. This meeting resulted in mash up tracks "Battologizzie" and "Links 2 dry 4", the only mixes, which were created by Muffin using multitracks (multitrack sound records of t.A.T.u. songs "Ya Tvoya Ne Pervaya" ("Show Me Love" russian version) and "Prostye Dvighenya" ("Simple Motions"). His mixes "Battologizzie", "Links 2 dry 4" together with earlier recorded "Springs" and "Ein kleiner Mensñh" (an easier version of "Ist das gut!") were sent to Universal Music. No reaction followed; however, eighteen months later, in their album «Reise, Reise» Rammstein performed a song with the girl singing accompaniment in Russian language. This song is called "Moskau".
Probably, this story generated numerous rumours about "potential joint works" of t.A.T.u. and Rammstein.

In November 2004, Muffin opened his official web site www.muffin.ru.

In early 2005,"pirates" issued two illegal collections of Muffin's mash up mixes Zemfira + Rammstein's "No Angel" and t.A.T.u. + Rammstein's "Springs". "Springs" collection is more popular and quickly spread by Internet, resulting in numerous "pirate" editions and compilations on compact disks.

In 2005, Muffin added several mixes to his projects Zemfira + Rammstein and t.A.T.u. + Rammstein. He made remixes of Rammstein songs, in particular, a cycle of remixes for such world hit as "Mein Teil".
